My name is Mrs. Begemann, and I will be your guide through all the fun and exciting computer activities that you get to do at the Middle School. Please make sure you have your Acceptable Use Policy signed and turned in the first two days of school or you will not be allowed to be on the computers in my room. This semester we will be introducing you to the ENTIRE keyboard through vigorous typing lessons. You will learn and master the ENTIRE keyboard as a sixth grader. We also create fun posters, banners, signs, etc using Microsoft Word. This class is also a way to teach you how to use the Internet safely and appropriately at school and at home, as well as how to obtain all that media and information that is zooming around in cyberspace!

Class Information:

  • ­All items necessary to complete keyboarding will be provided in class and will NOT be allowed to be taken from the classroom.
  • ­Grades will be based on technique, performance, speed, quizzes and assignments.
  • ­Each student is responsible for his/her skill development.Most assignments will be completed in class. If not completed, the student is expected to complete them at another time before or after school.
  • ­Daily attendance is important to be successful in this class. If class is missed it is the responsibility of the student to make up the work.

Rules:

  • ­Students should be in their assigned seat when the tardy bell rings. If students are not in their seats when the bell rings, they will be counted tardy. Students are to remain seated until the teacher dismisses class, not the bell.
  • ­Students should not use the mouse or keyboard while the teacher is speaking in class.
  • ­Students are expected to have planners and reading book everyday.You will not be allowed to leave the classroom for restroom use, drinks, or phone unless it is absolutely necessary. Use passing time between periods.
  • ­All student handbook guidelines are to be followed in this class.

Computer LAB Rules:

  • ­Hands are to be clean
  • ­Leave the room in an orderly fashion with chairs under computer tables
  • ­Books and personal belongings are to be left in assigned area in classroom. The only items you should have with you in class are your planner, AR log & book, folder for assignments and a writing utensil
  • ­Keyboarding text and disks do not leave the classroom
  • ­Computer settings are NOT to be changed on the computer unless instructed to do so
  • ­Students are expected to follow the acceptable use policy when using the Internet. E-mail and chat rooms are not to be accessed.
